Concerning my post about the future me of doing more flicks I received the following letter from the owner of Maskurbate. Thanks man!
I had a meeting yesterday with Gammae Entertainment which own
NextDoorStudios. We were talking about how the adult industry has changed in the last 5 years (since I launched Maskurbate).
Those of us (porn website owners)who do not adapt to those changes are going to dissapear soon [sic].
If I speak for myself, I'm paying the models a bit more now than 5 years ago. I give my top rated models 1300 per scene for full sex and 800 for blowjobs and 600 for solos.
Reducing the models pay is not the way to go !
I do not promote the website the same way as I did before.
A couple of years ago I could depend on "affiliates" - blogs that took 50% from the subsciption. That kind of promotion is no longer THE only way to go. It only generates a small part of my revenues.
I do it with a maskNow days, people are going on Free Tube sites and you need to do lots of cross-selling if you want to survive.
Since I have adapt, I'm making more money and can hope to grow and evolve with everything else on the web.
Like you said, It is tough for models to get paid well because lots of producers did not adapt well to the recent changes.
Marketing is as important, if not more, as the content itself.
But if we want to get members, we need great quality models, so we need to pay them accordingly.Anyway, that's how I see it and it surely is working for me.

ReplyDeleteMaskurbate is one of the better sites a model could hope to work with. The finished product is sleek and nice to watch but, more, the company is fun and respectful. If it weren't for location (Canada) I think we'd see more "Lantis" videos. Hehehe.
Like I commented on another post ( http://troymoreno.blogspot.com/2011/04/me-doing-more-movies.html) some pretty established studios out there are offering a pathetic $200 dollars for m2m scenes, including bareback (which are supposed to be 'specialty' niche).
